Folks want to know: Should I apply for a Mail-In Ballot (MIB) or should I plan to go to the polls in person?
It's a fair question and there are a lot of things to consider:
Will I get my MIB in time and will the Post Office be able to return it to the Board of Elections in time?
Will the pandemic get worse and will it be unsafe to go to the polls considering that many more will be voting in the General election than voted in the Primary?
Will things change between now and then?
Things are changing and perhaps the most important thing to know is that the DDems will be on top of developments and letting you know the latest in terms of when the BOE is mailing out the MIB and what, if any, procedures will change for the General election. (For example, will drop boxes be allowed?)
As things stand, the best way to vote safely is to vote by mail and make sure you act early!
If you've already applied for a Mail-In Ballot (MIB) or if you are not sure, check the status.
If you are in the system for a general election MIB, your status will say “pending”. If the system doesn’t have you, it’ll say “record not found”.
If You Haven't Requested Your Mail-In Ballot Yet,
Do It Right Now - It's Quick And Easy.
It's important to do everything early to make sure that Post Office delays don't negate your vote! And to make sure that the Bucks Board of Elections isn't overwhelmed!
If you want to vote in person at the polls, stay tuned to our emails. We will provide you with the latest information.
The Trump reelection campaign sued Pennsylvania state and county elections officials in June, saying MIB drop boxes were unconstitutional and that all residents of the county using a MIB should have to take their ballot to the Board of Elections (Doylestown, in our case).
The suit also said Pennsylvania should allow voters to serve as poll watchers in counties other than where they live meaning that they could show up from the redder parts of the state to intimidate our voters.
