The most obvious reason is that most voters (51%) are women, and they deserve representation from legislators who think like they do. This is the reflective democracy we deserve. When women are elected to office, they bring attention to what are traditionally considered “women’s issues,” and also uplift the needs of other underrepresented communities in government. They deliver real results on issues that matter, and move our government towards diversity and inclusion for everyone.
Imagine if we had majorities of women in the State Houses.
