Arrested 40 times from 1960-1966 and proud of his civil disobedience, Freedom Rider John Lewis said ”When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have to speak up. You have to do something.”
One of his proudest achievements was his stewardship of the Voting Rights Act. He championed expansion and reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act to protect not just African Americans but other minorities like Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asian Americans who had been disenfranchised as well.
Unfortunately, in 2013 the Supreme Court struck down the heart of the Voting Rights Act and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been blocking HR4, a bill to reinstate the law since 2018.
Each of us can honor John Lewis’ memory by voting for those candidates who will further his ideals. A Democratic president and Congress will pass civil rights laws, and a Democratic state legislature and governor will support those laws. We must support Democratic candidates up and down the ticket, and kick out Trump and his enablers.
The first step towards that goal is to make sure you are not purged from the voter rolls!

We are urging Democratic voters to avoid Election Day lines in November and vote by mail. Voting via the mail means:
Avoiding non-essential travel, helping to defeat the coronavirus pandemic,
No need to arrange child care,
No standing in long lines (there will be record turnout this year!).
To defeat Donald Trump who is showing his unfitness for high office more every day *and* take back the PA General Assembly, we need to make sure every Democrat votes.
BTW, did you know Donald Trump is also trying to undermine the U.S. Postal Service? Don’t take chances, mail your ballot way ahead of time, to make sure it gets there well ahead of the Election Day deadline.
